Advancing science for health, and health for life

A forward-thinking, interdisciplinary approach to public health

The Foundation for Health Studies was founded with a deep conviction: to transform health systems from a scientific, ethical, and humanistic foundation, integrating critical thinking, cutting-edge technology, and social commitment. Inspired by the legacy of Argentine epistemologist Mario Bunge and by the universal principles of health as a human right, our organisation serves as a bridge between rigorous research and concrete action.

From Latin America, with a global outlook, we build networks with academic, governmental, and multilateral institutions to develop sustainable, evidence-based solutions to today’s health challenges. Our systemic and interdisciplinary vision positions us as a unique institution in the region—capable of generating strategic knowledge to support the design of fairer and more effective public policies.

We aspire to a public health model centred on human dignity, guided by empirical evidence and strengthened by technological tools and robust philosophical frameworks

We approach health as a complex system, deeply interconnected with the economic, legal, political, and communicational spheres.

Vision

To establish ourselves as a national and international reference in public health by integrating rigorous research, critical thinking, and strategic cooperation in partnership with academic institutions, governments, and multilateral organisations.

Mission

To promote interdisciplinary scientific research in public health—grounded in data, critical thinking, and advanced technology—with the aim of strengthening health systems through an ethical, sustainable, and people-centred approach to collective wellbeing.

Reason: We promote critical thinking, free from ideological bias, as the foundation for health decisions grounded in logic and evidence.

Science We apply the scientific method rigorously, integrating statistics, epidemiology, machine learning, and the analysis of complex systems.

Equity: We recognise and address the structural barriers that lead to inequality in access to healthcare.

Solidarity: We foster interdisciplinary collaboration and joint efforts with scientific, community-based, governmental, and third-sector stakeholders. fomentamos la cooperación interdisciplinaria y el trabajo conjunto con actores científicos, comunitarios, gubernamentales y del tercer sector.

Enfoque Systems Approach

Compromiso Ethical Commitment

We apply the Luhmannian model of systems sociology to understand and optimise the interactions between the health system and the political, economic, and social subsystems.

We develop predictive models based on artificial intelligence, big data, and simulations, enabling risk anticipation and enhanced health governance.

Our research is guided by the common good, promoting inclusive, sustainable, and culturally contextualised policies.

We produce knowledge that meets international standards and is applicable to both local contexts and global scenarios of cooperation and development.
